The IP takes cognizance of the responsibility of HEIs to promote understanding of indicators of social cohesion through professional programs for trainees who have concerns for the well-being of communities, including children, young people and their families. Developing expertise in intercultural dialogue is seen as a fundamental lifelong learning process to this end. The aim of the IP is to develop the capacity of trainees in education, social work, economics and business to identify ‘physical’, ‘systemic’, ‘communicative’ and ‘attitudinal’ factors that are significant for the development of positive intercultural dialogue and well-being within relevant social and institutional settings. Thus the IP promotes awareness of the effects of responsive and sensitized management of people’s transitions. In a changing Europe, such transitions have implications for both economic and social well-being. The trainees’ learning will be engendered through engagement in an auditing process that identifies / explores markers for enhanced social and economic well-being. Innovative use of ICT will support the sharing of weblogs and the co-documentation by trainees / staff about enquiries into social and institutional effects. These outputs will inform the immediate development of content that can be included in joint programs across the partnership to promote social cohesion and wellbeing.
